Email Xray works in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook to let you look inside Outlook email and detect attempts at “phishing.” Phishing, also called “carding” or “brand spoofing,” is the act of sending email claiming to be from a legitimate enterprise in an attempt to fool the user into divulging private information.

Email Xray makes it quick and easy to actually look inside Outlook email and detect attempts at phishing. The program lets you view your email as plain text so there is no possibility of being harmed by a malicious script or link. Email Xray also reveals the email headers and source code, and lets you easily search, copy, and print any of the views. Email Xray's reporting feature lets you email all this information to the FTC anti-fraud department, your service provider, or anyone else with a few mouse clicks.

Email Xray works with Internet email and Microsoft Exchange messages, including those in Public Folders. Designed to be administrator-friendly as well as user-friendly, it can be easily installed across a Local Area Network, or LAN, and allows the network administrator to modify or disable specific features. The program gives you the information you need to diagnose email problems and suspicious messages, and makes it easy to provide that information to your service provider or Help Desk for further action.

Swidgets Email Xray will run under Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP, and works with Outlook 2000, 2002 (XP) and 2003. It requires 3MB of RAM and 3MB of free hard disk space.
